Following a well-deserved summer hiatus, the Clio Cup France will contest its penultimate round of the season at the same circuit that hosted the French F1 Grand Prix from 1991 to 2008.

Leader in the general classification, Dorian Guldenfels arrives in Nevers with a lot of hopes. While David Pouget (GPA Racing) has narrowed the lead to 38 pointes, the Alsace native has a chance to counter the return of his rival and draw near to his first crown in the Clio Cup !

With three wins in the last four races, David Pouget intends to keep the momentum going on a track that he has had a lot of success at in the past. Like at Barcelona, the support from Jordi Palomeras (GPA Racing) could be very important if the Spaniard manages to once again finish in front of the other title contenders.

Several outsiders want to get their season’s back on track and rejoin the race for the title. Among them are serious candidates such as Thibaut Bossy (TB2S), often very solid at Magny-Cours, Nicolas Milan (Milan Compétition), who is a five-time champion in the category and Corentin Tierce (Tierce Racing), who has been a model of consistency since the beginning of the year.

Luis González is still in with a shot for the championship, but the Spaniard is focusing on the Junior category where he can clinch the title on Sunday if he wins both races against rivals Edwin Traynard (Autosport GP) and Antoine Prenveille (Team Prenveille).

Several other drivers want to make up ground to the leaders. Among them there is Guillaume Savoldelli (TB2S), Alexandre Albouy (GPA Racing) and Anthony Jurado (Milan Compétition), who is the only other driver than David Pouget and Dorian Guldenfels to win a race in 2019. Mathieu Lannepoudenx (Milan Compétition) has the same target to begin his march up through the general classification.

The Gentlemen drivers will play their role in the show as leader David Pajot (Vic’team) has a slim four-point lead from local driver Mickael Carrée (T2CM). While they have pulled away from the field, Stéphane Auriacombe (Tierce Racing) and brothers Emmanuel and Samuel Raffin (Autosport GP) want to push hard to keep the battle going just until the season finale at Castellet.

Lionel Viguier (TB2S), Kevin Jimenez (GPA Racing), Emmanuel Alliot (Emma Compétition) and Jérémy Bordagaray (Borda Rallye Team) also want to run strong this weekend. Several returns are also worth noting with Jérôme Da Ros and Julien Paget at Tierce Racing and Frank Traynard at Autosport GP back with the Clio Cup France.

Italy’s Matteo Poloni (Essecorse), who is currently second in the Clio Cup Italia, and Britain’s Will Morrison (Milan Compétition), who took part in the 24 Hours of Dubai and won the Clio Cup United Arab Emirates, will make their Clio Cup France debuts.

This weekend’s action will feature the Clio Cup France and Clio Cup Spain with nine drivers entered in both categories and in particular David Pouget. Three others will run in only the Spanish category : James Ross (Bob Ross Racing), Joaquin Rodrigo (Automóvil Club de Zaragoza) and Guy Counil (GPA Racing).
