Clio Cup Middle East

Clio Cup Middle East was back in action with round three at the Yas Marina Circuit. Alex Renner and Ilya Sidorov topped the timing screen in practice before Eduardo Miranda and Ivan Tverdohlebov took over in qualifying to share pole positions and then victories in two hard-fought races. The Mexican won race one ahead of Ilya Sidorov and Stanislav Novikov. The Russian driver then triumphed in the second race ahead of Ilya Sidorov and Alexander Chachava. Despite retiring from race two, Challenger Eduardo Miranda still leads the general classification ahead of Ilya Sidorov, remaining the Gentlemen Drivers Cup leader before heading into the second half of the season this week.

Clio Rally5 shone over the holiday period at the Istanbul Rallisi, the 2023 Turkish Rally Championship season finale. Tuncer and Asena Sancakli won their class and the two-wheel drive category to conclude their campaign with the RC5 title and the national crown in the women’s co-driver category.

The success continued into the new year, with Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 winning in the French Rally Cup at the Ronde du Jura. Making his Clio Rally3 debut, Jean-Paul Monnin and co-driver Melvin Fraigne led a one-two finish in his class and an overall double top-five for the model, beating Thomas Benier and Gaëlle Piat by 2.9s. Still at the Ronde du Jura, Silvio Cammarota and Eva Dolmazon won their class ahead of the other Clio Rally5 of Laurent and Amandine Borderie. Also of note was the RC5 podium finish for the Clio Rally5 of the Czech duo of Tomáš Štuksa and Ondřej Novák at the Jännerrallye (Austria).

This week, the Clio Cup Middle East enters the second half of its season with round four on the Yas Marina Circuit in its 4.57 km GP Corkscrew Circuit layout.
