Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4, and Clio Rally5 racked up further successes this past weekend in the heart of European summer and South America, with outstanding performances in Ecuador and Peru and the last Clio RX event before the summer break !

FIA European Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 equalled its best result in ERC3 with the Polish pairing of Hubert Kowalczyk and Jarosław Hryniuk, finishing runner-up on Rally di Roma Capitale. Bulgaria’s Aleksandar Tomov and Dimitar Spasov also finished just off the podium for their first appearance in ERC3, while Michael Rendina and Fabiano Cipriani finished third in ERC4 on home soil with Clio Rally4.

Italian Junior Rally Championship

The Rally di Roma Capitale also hosted round four of the Italian Junior Rally Championship, with its service park exclusively featuring Renault Clio Rally5s prepared by Motorsport Italia. Among the Italian hopefuls, Matteo Doretto and Marco Frigo claimed their third win of the season after a long duel with Francesco Dei Ceci and Nicolò Lazzarini, who were denied victory by a puncture costing them two minutes in the final stage. Lorenzo Lorallini and Veronica Modolo completed the podium. Matteo Doretto extends his lead over Francesco Dei Ceci and Mattia Zanin in the general classification ahead of Rally 1000 Miglia (13-14 September).

Clio Trophy Canarias

Álvaro Santana claimed his first Clio Trophy Canarias victory on the Rally Ciudad de La Laguna. Co-driven by Juan Monzón, the Escudería Maspalomas driver beat the crew of Víctor Valido and Emilio Pérez after Noé Armas and Alejandro Falcón retired on SS2. The title race is back on track, with Victor Valido now four points clear of Álvaro Santana, who himself is four points ahead of Noé Armas ahead of round four at the Rallye Villa de Teror (27-28 September). Alongside the trophy, Clio Rally3 excelled on the roads in the north of the island of Tenerife, winning its class and taking sixth place overall in this round of the Canaries Asphalt Rally Championship with Fernando Cruz Ramos and Juan Ricardo Luis Bautista.

Ecuador Rally Championship

Round four of the national calendar, Rally Cotopaxi saw Clio Rally3 win its class and finish seventh overall in the hands of Alejandro Martínez and Andrés Carpio. Clio Rally5 was also out in force on the gravel stages, with nine crews competing. Among them, Abraham Feijoo and Fernando Gavilanes dominated the RC5 class, beating Andrés and Mateo Gómez by 1m09s and Roque Ochoa and Cristian Ordóñez by 2m31.8s.

French Junior Rallycross Championship

Defeated at the previous meeting in Pont de Ruan, Valentin Lumet responded impressively by dominating the action in Kerlabo. The driver from Varades was victorious in all four qualifying heats, his semi-final and the final to take victory ahead of Gautier Sarhy and Chanel Launay. Valentin Lumet’s success now enjoys an 18-point lead over Kelig Gouesbet, who finished fourth at the weekend. The next round will be at Lohéac (31 August-1 September).

French Rally Cup

In France, Clio Rally3 won its class with Dominique Hoarau and William Jourlin at the Tour Auto-Rallye National de la Réunion, where Samuel Hoarau and Stéphane Duverger also won its category with Clio Rally5. Meanwhile, Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 won at the Rallye de la Plaine des Vosges, with Fabrice Martin - Romain Gavoye and Emmanuel Tacquard - Pascaline Darras, respectively, as well as the Rallye du Trièves, with Kévin Reghessa - Vincent Delaplanche and Loïc Scandola - Wendy Maiolini. Clio Rally4 was not to be outdone, with Jérémy Brissiaud and Marius Bureau leading a one-two finish in its class on the Rallye des Vins de Vernou, where Hervé Denis and Benjamin Guignard were also winners with Clio Rally5. Lastly, Clio Rally5 won its class on the Rallye Montagne Noire with Damien Vaissière and Sébastien Romero and on the Rallye de la Fourme d’Ambert with Silvio Cammarota and Eva Dolmazon.

In Italy, Clio Rally3 scored a one-two finish in Rally 3, led by Lorenzo Costi and Alessio Spezzani on Rally di Salsomaggiore Terme, whilst Federico Francia and Andrea Albertini won their class with Clio Rally5. Clio Rally5 also impressed in Peru with a class win and second place overall on Rally Unión Sur thanks to Javier Arce and Mario Acosta. Meanwhile, Martin and František Končal Clio Rally5 won in the RC5 division in their Clio Rally5 on the Silmet Rally Příbram (Czech Republic) and P2-4 with Paulo Barata and Nuno Rodrigues da Silva on Rally Rota da Cereja de Resende (Portugal). Finally, Clio Rally4 scored a double class podium at the HYAcenter Ralli (Finland) with the crews of Valentino Ledda - Claudio Mele and Takumi Matsushita - Pekka Kelander

Coming up

This weekend, Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4, and Clio Rally5 will all contest round nine of the FIA World Rally Championship, the Secto Rally Finland. Matteo Chatillon and Maxence Cornuau will compete in WRC3, while the duos Thomas Martens - Eddy Smeets and JariJaakkola - Tatu Nukki will respectively target victory in RC4 and RC5.
