While the action on Saturday focused on the duel between Yannick Francisci and Antonio Otero in the Clio Ice Trophy, other news included the new Clio Trophy Belgium calendar and the Clio Rally4 podium on Latvian snow !

Clio Ice Trophy

Yannick Francisci put in an excellent performance in scoring maximum points in round two of the Clio Ice Trophy. With the fastest time in Q2 and victory in the B Final on the Pas de la Casa Circuit, the Corsican driver from the Casanova Sport Auto team moved up to second place in the general classification. Winner of his second final in as many weekends, Antonio Otero (Puzzle Motorsport) is the new points leader, but his six closest pursuers can take the lead from him at the next meeting, scheduled for Saturday 3 February.

Clio Trophy Belgium

The calendar of edition four of the Clio Trophy Belgium showcases the diversity of the country’s roads, between compact one-day rallies and two-day events. The season begins on the special stages of the Rallye de Wallonie (27-28 April) before taking on the Sezoensrally (18 May). After the summer break, the Aarova Rally Oudenaarde (24 August) will mark the mid-season point before the East Belgian Rally (28 September) in early autumn. Finally, the Ardennes will host the season finale of the all-Clio Rally5 field on the Spa Rally (30 November-1 December).

Clio Rally4 claimed a podium finish in Latvia in the hands of Can Alakoç. The 15-year-old Turkish driver and his Lithuanian co-driver Justas Vičiūnas finished runner-up in the RSK9 class at Rallysprint Alūksne, round one of the season. The duo also finished sixth overall and they ended up fourth among the Juniors in the Latvian Rally Championship season-opener.

Coming up

This week, Renault will be the most represented brand at the opening round of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship season with nine Clio Rally5s, two Clio Rally4s, two Clio R3Ts and five Clio Rally3s. Among the protagonists will be the top Juniors of the 2023 Clio Trophy France Terre, Matteo Chatillon and Maxence Cornuau, who will make their WRC debuts.

Meanwhile, Clio Cup Middle East will be back in action in the penultimate round of their calendar at the Dubai Autodrome. Mexico’s Eduardo Miranda will attempt to take his first step towards the general and Challengers titles, whilst Russia’s Ilya Sidorov and Stanislav Novikov will continue their duel at the top of the Gentlemen Drivers category.
