The Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R turns up the heat in Japan
Just a few months on from claiming the lap record for a front-wheel drive production car at the Nordschleife, Renault Sport has been putting the stopwatch under pressure once more, setting the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R loose on the tracks of Japan.
The limited-edition Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R, only 250 of which are available worldwide, made an indelible mark on 2014 thanks to Laurent Hurgon’s record-breaking Nordschleife lap of 7:54.36, a feat achieved on 15 May with the support of partners Michelin, Öhlins, Akrapovic and BRM.
In looking to build on that notable accomplishment, Renault Japan and Renault Sport put the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R to the test at three of Japan’s greatest race tracks, Suzuka, Fuji and Tsukuba, where Laurent Hurgon and Kazuo Shimizu duly posted three more record-breaking laps.
