Renault Sport Track Day celebrates five years in Sweden !
A host of motoring enthusiasts descended on Gelleråsen in August to mark the fifth anniversary of the Renault Sport Track Days in Sweden. They enjoyed a full and exciting day, culminating in the first public appearance of New Mégane R.S. in the Nordic kingdom.
Renault Sweden welcomed customers and prospective customers at a rather special Renault Sport Track Day on 20 August, held at the Karlskoga Motorstadion.
Sixty Renault Sport vehicles gathered at the circuit, the oldest racetrack in Sweden and more commonly known as Gelleråsen, to celebrate the fifth anniversary of this event, which remains incredibly popular with racing enthusiasts.
Using the advice of the instructors or their R.S. Monitor, the hundred or so drivers at the event gradually improved their skills as the day wore on. On this short, undulating track, everyone had the chance to emulate the likes of motor racing legends Stirling Moss and Jim Clark, who both won races on this circuit when it held non-championship Grand Prix events in the 1960s.
As is now customary, Clio Cup and New Mégane R.S. experiences alongside professional race drivers were held during breaks between the sessions. Another recurrent theme of the day was the slalom competition in a Clio R.S. Trophy. Whilst some had a go, others chose to get a close-up look at the Formula Renault 1.6 used in the Formula STCC, the first rung on the single-seater ladder in Sweden.
